There is no "best" build. Depending on the enemies you face, you'll have to change tactics and skills often, even use different equipment. Many good builds are available on this forum, but if you think you can get by with only one, you're in trouble.

I rely on hammer. I have a vamp 5 hammer, mending, and if i am feeling frisky i'll use liv vic also. Toss that with 16 Hammer Mastery and Mighty Blow and you will see some frightening damage with a massive ability to stay alive. Generally don't cary liv vic, but have healing breeze because it is more effective and gives you the freedom to have some other energy reliant abilities. But if you really need live vicariously bring Bonetti's because it regens energy as you get hit.

Do you need ideas for solo farming, or general party play?
As a monk, I prefer warriors to bring defense skills, and not healing spells. What good is a healing 9 breeze when the heal monk has a lvl 16? In general party play, avoiding the damage is better than attempting to heal it. Skills like "Watch Yourself!" and "Shields Up!" are great when used correctly. Armor boosts and block/evade stances will go a long way.
I never use Healing Prayers when partying with my warrior, only when solo, and even then I don't use them very often. Healing Hands isn't all that great of an Elite imho. I'd rather go with Glad's Defense, or SoJ instead.
